Diana Law
Diana is a contemporary jeweller whose pieces are the epitome of everyday elegance. Creating collections using silver and cast resin, her designs are both extremely wearable and affordable.
Having completed her training at Duncan of Jordanstone, Dundee and graduating in 1998, Diana now designs and creates under the name Diana King Jewellery, from her Perth based garden workshop.
Aesthetic
Simplicity is key to Diana, and her work features beautiful fluid simplistic clean lines and uncomplicated characteristics, expressing her strong sense of ‘less is more’, all lending themselves wonderfully to the design of her jewellery collections.
Sources of inspiration often come from the natural world, from the flora and fauna found in her garden surrounding her workshop, the freedom of movement and flight of birds, to the visual textures of the sea, waves and clouds.
Diana believes that continually evolving and learning new exciting ways of working are at the core of being a creative, and enjoys exploring her imagination through the use of different materials and techniques, often leading to new and exciting collections.
Practice
Diana’s practice encapsulates the creative process, exploring new ideas through sketching, drawing and designing in sketchbooks, whilst simultaneously art journaling her thoughts and feelings and continually making connections with her original design brief.
Working mainly in sterling silver and cast resin, Diana enjoys incorporating a variety of materials to realise her insightful designs, including epoxy resin cast embedded with mica powders or painted ink paper birds.
Seasonally, or indeed for any celebration, the use of glitter is a popular addition. Every resin piece is individually created, cast, set, ground, filed, sanded and polished and each piece of silver is hand cut, sawn, filed, soldered, pickled, washed and polished.
Diana also enjoys working with clients on commissions and offers various designs that can be personalised with lettering stamps for a very personal item, and welcomes workshop visits by appointment.
