Individual Flower Mosaics

Individual Flower Mosaics

Created as part of The 100 Day Project Scotland, this collection features a variety of unique mosaic flowers made entirely from upcycled materials. Each piece is crafted from broken crockery and fragments of stained glass, set on lightweight recycled board. The mosaics are grouted in small batches using leftover grout, giving each one a subtly distinct finish. The reverse side is hand-painted with durable cement paint and fitted with a D-ring, ready to hang.

Throughout the 100 days, I documented the process on Instagram — from the source materials (a favourite mug, a chipped plate, or a found ceramic shard) to the finished flower. You can find the full journey saved as a “highlight” on my profile.

  • Artisan Process

Working with views over the river Earn and hills beyond, Katy is frequently inspired by this landscape, which is reflected in her mosaics. Flowers in abundance feature in much of her works.

Recycled materials inspire and stimulate many of her ideas, including broken china, where she knows the provenance of each tile, creating a traditional patchwork concept.
