A New Easel & Eye!

Award winning artist, tutor and Perthshire Artisan Karenina Johnson, is crowdfunding for a particular easel to enable her to continue painting and teaching.

Having recently been diagnosed with a degenerative eye condition, which could result in requiring corneal implants, Karenina has had to re-think the way she works in order to continue working as an artist and also preserve her eyesight.

So Karenina is going to go large, working on much bigger and looser paintings, and to do this will need a particular easel which allows a lot of flexibility to handle the large canvases. Surprisingly, finding such an easel has been incredibly difficult and after extensive research Karenina has discovered the perfect easel which is made by a family owned business in America. It’s a very intricate design and engineered product, yet also hand crafted, and when you add in the shipping costs, is an investment in Karenina’s future art practice. Each easel is made to order with a waiting list of up to 7 months!

That’s where Karenina’s Crowdfunder Campaign comes into play. With a need to raise a total of £3,500, Karenina’s campaign kicked off on 22 March and has until 19 April to achieve target. If Karenina’s campaign is successful at each stage, her campaign has been selected by Creative Scotland to be match-funded, so we’re all hoping she’s successful and want to share this news should anyone wish to check out her ‘New Easel and Eye!’ Crowdfunder.

As a big ‘Thank you’ from Karenina, there are a number of lovely art related rewards ranging from small pieces of artwork, to 1:1 art lessons, original artworks and a day’s painting in Perth with lunch included!

Rewards range from £10 to £125.

You can find out more about Karenina's 'New Easel & Eye' Crowdfunder campaign on this link: www.crowdfunder.co.uk/new-easel-and-eye and more about her creative practice on her Perthshire Artisans profile page.

Good Luck Karenina!
