Art meets Adventure

Art, adventure and mountain landscapes take centre stage at The Shape of Summits: A New Mountain Art Exhibition at Fort William Mountain Festival 2026, and the exhibition and opening event includes work from three Perthshire Artisans, Morven Stewart, Micah Stanbridge and Ceri McEwan.

Hosted by the Nevis Centre, Fort William, The Shape of Summits Exhibition offers an artist’s-eye view of the mountains and a space to immerse yourself in wild weather, towering summits and the landscapes that inspire adventure. These works demonstrate a sense of place and exploration, mountain community, environmental awareness and climate responsibility - values at the core of the Fort William Mountain Festival.

Bringing together eight artists whose practices are shaped by their experiences in mountain landscapes and outdoor culture. The participating Perthshire Artisans are:

The Shape of Summits forms part of the wider Fort William Mountain Festival programme, creating a crossover between art and adventure. The visual arts have beautifully woven through the festival over the years but this is will be the first year that the festival offers a Mountain Art exhibition.

Opening Night: A Coorie Welcome

5pm – 7pm | Friday 13 February 2026 | The Nevis Centre, Fort William

Visitors are warmly invited to coorie in for the opening night of The Shape of Summits. Hosted by the artists themselves, the evening will feature hot chocolate and home baking to enjoy as you browse the exhibition and shop.


It promises to be a relaxed and welcoming celebration, a chance to share stories of creativity in the mountains, discover the joys and challenges of making art in wild places, and connect with the artists behind the work.


Whether you visit for the art, the atmosphere or the love of the mountains, The Shape of Summits offers a new way to experience the spirit of the Fort William Mountain Festival.
